ReptBase is an educational reference. These terms set the boundary between useful guidance and decisions that require direct measurement or a qualified professional.
1. Educational purpose
Species guides, climate calculations, comparisons and setup material are provided for general information. They do not create a veterinary, engineering or other professional relationship.
2. Conditions vary
Outdoor climate records do not measure an individual home or enclosure. Use properly placed instruments, thermostatic controls, manufacturer instructions and direct observation to verify temperature, humidity, UV exposure and other husbandry conditions.
3. Sources, prices and availability
ReptBase aims to label literature summaries, editorial comparisons, calculations and planned research honestly. Sources can change, evidence can disagree, and product price or availability can become outdated. An unavailable price is not a price estimate.
4. Responsible use
Do not use the site to support illegal wildlife ownership, unsafe electrical work, inappropriate treatment or conduct that conflicts with animal-welfare and local legal requirements.
5. Availability and changes
Routes, tools and datasets may be corrected, expanded or withdrawn. ReptBase is provided without a guarantee that every route will always be available or suitable for a particular animal.
